The Maynards Brand
The brand of Maynards is steeped in history and heritage – Charles Riley Maynard, the forefather of the Maynards brand, started his sweet business in the UK in 1880, and in 1909, wine gums were first launched by son Charles Gordon Maynard who had a difficult time trying to convince his teetotaler father that the sweet didn’t contain real wine!
Beacon purchased the rights to the Maynards brand in Southern Africa in 1949 and since then the tri-sweet colour wine gum rolls have become a household staple and an absolute must for cinema goers.
In July 2004, Snacks and Treats embarked on the creation of a new mega-brand in sweets through the range consolidation of six brands in gums, jellies, beans and chews under the Maynards brand, and the simultaneous rejuvenation of the brand’s personality.
Only Maynards enhances life’s colourful moments by adding bursts of the fruitiest and juiciest flavor.
